Charts like that making it seem like The Escapist should be a sidebar feature delivered by the employees of YC rather than the other way around.
Someone smarter than I am compared the phenomenon to the early days of radio… Basically where you had personalities that made the stations they worked for, but still were just employees there even though they were basically paying everyone’s salaries.
If this is following in the path of radio, in 20 years anything worth looking at will be the property of one of a handful of mega-corporations anyway, where even today’s ponds’ biggest fish will be little compared to their oceans.
‘Course he’ll have destroyed himself with drugs and alcohol long before then.
